To me, I am @ Youth.SG means being proud that I am a youth in Singapore. Reasons on why I am proud to be a youth in Singapore.
1. I am proud because in Singapore, education is very good as compared to our neighbouring countries.
2. Singapore is not suffering from any form of crisis such as economic crisis or climatic problems.
3. The environment can be very fundamental to our studies, and Singapore strives hard to provide the best environment.
4. The essentials such as electricity and water are well-provided for.
5. There is no natural disaster.
6. We still have our parents beside us unlike those in the Third World countries.
7. We enjoy really good racial harmony in Singapore.
8. There is a great variety of food in Singapore.
9. We feel really secure here in Singapore, thanks to the many patrols and measures taken.
Reasons on why I am not so proud to be a youth in Singapore.
1. Singapore is really small, so the places to hang out is really limited.
2. Rides in the theme park is really limited as well, so the queues are very long.
3. Games released in the US are not released in Singapore ; only popular ones are.
4. Singapore seems to be trying to raise our standard of living by making things more expensive.
5. Everything good seems to go to larger countries such as Japan or Hong Kong, for example Disneyland.
6. There is just not enough entertainment for youth.
I appreciate the Government's efforts in trying to make youths in Singapore a happy part of our lives, sometimes I think they just have to sit back and think about us and our feelings, and perhaps conduct surveys on the stuff youth like and would want to see more of. Maybe there should be more youth-friendly programmes instead of just catering to the needs of the family.
In short, Singapore is a really great country and I enjoy being a youth here.
